Koh Phi Phi: Things to do

The sheer limestone cliffs of Phi Phi islands jut dramatically from the sea. Home to copious marine life and huge underwater caves, Phi Phi Islands has some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world. Until recently the untouched beaches of Phi Phi Don could only be accessed by boat. These days a number of great hiking trails take penetrate the thick jungle, the longest taking around 2 hours to conquer.

Snorkelling

Phi Phi’s snorkelling is world-class. Abundant coral reefs teeming with colourful fish lay just off the shores of Phi Phi Don. Take a tour to snorkel incredible sites on nearby islands including Phi Phi Leh, where movie The Beach was filmed.

Scuba diving

The rock formations that comprise Phi Phi islands are bursting with caves, overhangs, and swim-throughs. 25 meter vertical walls of solid limestone plummet into the see, hosting a huge amount of marine life. Float over huge stag horn and star coral reefs among colourful reef fish, sharks, octopus and more. There are several Dive schools on Phi Phi Don offering trips and courses from beginners to PADI qualifications.

Boat trips

The 6 islands of Koh Phi Phi host stunning beaches, coral reefs and dramatic limestone cliffs famous to the area. The islands are close enough to visit on a daytrip, which you can arrange from Phi Phi Don.

Hiking

There are no cars or roads on Phi Phi Island, and until recently many beaches could only be accessed by longtail boat. Today there are jungle trails leading to most corners of the island. Pack some water, snacks and your snorkel and head into the hills.
