Koh Lanta: Things to do

Koh Lanta is the perfect base to explore the dozens of surrounding islands. Kayak, snorkel and dive among coral reefs teeming with fish, laze on a deserted beach and marvel at the rocky scenery.

Snorkelling

There is a multitude of stunning islands nearby, each with excellent snorkelling. You can choose to explore the islands by traditional longtail, slow boat or speedboat.

Scuba diving

With over 50 islands in the National Marine Park, some of Thailand’s best diving spots are easily reached from Koh Lanta. Dozens of dive schools on Koh Lanta offer trips and lessons for all levels.

Mu Koh Lanta National Park Viewpoint

Mu Koh Lanta National Park spans over 130 square kilometres and includes islands such as Koh Rok, Koh Ha, Koh Muk and Koh Kradan. On Koh Lanta, the park occupies the southern tip of the island. Home to ancient trees, beautiful beaches and cheeky monkeys, a well worn trail leads you to some of the most stunning views in Thailand.

Sea kayaking

Most resorts rent kayaks, and there are several companies that arrange trips to nearby islands. Explore caves, kayak through mangrove forests and snorkel through fantastic coral reefs.

Khao Mai Kaew Cave

Hire a local guide to lead you through the somewhat challenging Tham Mai Kaew Cave; with its tight passes, ancient ladders and steep climb up sheer rocks.

Lanta Old Town

Settled some 500 years ago by Chao Lea (also known as Sea Gypsies), in the 17th Century, Lanta Old town was once a stopover for trade ships. Rich in history and Thai culture, today the Old Town offers a rare insight into Koh Lanta of the past.
