Scuba diving - Koh Lanta
With over 50 islands in the National Marine Park, some of Thailand’s best diving spots are easily reached from Koh Lanta. Dozens of dive schools on Koh Lanta offer trips and lessons for all levels.
Most dives focus on Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, where breathtaking submerged pinnacles attract colourful coral rich with wildlife. Hin Daeng is named after the unique red coral that grows here, and Hin Muang is named after the purple coral clinging to the rock wall. Don’t be surprised to see Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, Tuna, Barracuda and colourful Clown Fish.
A small cluster of islands known as Koh Ha Yai sits to the northwest of Koh Lanta. Calm conditions and underwater caverns make this an exciting place to dive. All kinds of fish live here, including Lionfish, Angel Fish, Seahorses and more.
Dive schools also venture as far as Phi Phi Island, famous for its coral reefs and tropical fish.
