Snorkelling on Koh Lipe - Koh Lipe

You can snorkel from most of Lipe’s beaches, though the most impressive coral and fish is a short boat trip away.

Sunrise Beach offers the best snorkeling on Lipe. Accessible at high tide, float over the shallows until you reach one of the small islands. Koh Kra is the island in front of the school and Koh Usen is in front of Idyllic Resort. The ground suddenly drops away and the water is very deep here. Known as ‘the shelf’ these waters are home to a large number of tropical fish, corals and marine life.

At low tide head towards the north end of the beach. The water never gets shallow here and snorkeling is good all year round.

Take care when swimming, as currents can be strong. Several places rent mask and fins for around 50 Baht each.

Sunset beach has good snorkeling at high tide around the cliff at the southern end. Take care when swimming, as currents can be strong.

Head north on Pattaya Beach and follow the rocks to secluded Zanom Beach for snorkelling right off the beach.
