Green Elephant Sanctuary Park - Phuket
Elephants have been an integral part of Thai culture for centuries. Much in the same way Europeans used horses, Elephants in Thailand were rode into battle, used in construction and more recently as attractions for tourists. Green Elephant Sanctuary Park cares for retired or homeless Elephants and their young. Come and experience these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.
The Elephant sanctuary is committed to the protection of elephants by offering them a safe and protected life. The sanctuary is vast – over 40,000 square kilometres of jungle – big enough so the elephants can have as natural home as possible. There are areas reserved for nocturnal elephants so they are not disturbed in the day. All the facilities and the care of the elephants are in accordance with European animal protection laws.
A medical clinic has been set up for their care, as transporting a sick elephant is not always possible. You can’t ride elephants here. Instead marvel as these great beasts play with their young, swim in the lake or enjoy a mud bath. You can even help bathe them if you like! The grounds are as eco-friendly as possible too. A great way to spend time with Thailand’s most treasured animal.
